Complex burn injury including chemical, thermal and smoke inhalation for ICU and floor status patients. Split thickness skin grafts for partial and full thickness burns. Cardiology Team – Cardiac/Cardiothoracic Surgery Services 

Congestive heart failure, ischemic and idiopathic cardiomyopathies, MI, pneumectomy/lobectomy, CABG, double lung transplant, atelectasis, heart transplant, pacers and cardiac stents.

Pulmonary Team – Medicine/Geriatric Services

Obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, immunocompromised conditions, general debilitation via pneumonia/infectious disease, cystic fibrosis and conjunctive chest physical therapy airway clearance measures. Pulmonary rehab with focus on CF population using RPE exercise scale guidelines.

Neurology Team- Neurology/Neurosurgery/Otolaryngology Services

Ischemic & hemorrhagic CVA, neuromuscular disease including MS, Guillian Barre, chronic and acute demyelinating polyneuropathies, myasthenia gravis, basal ganglia disorders, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, spinal fusions, thymectomy, tumor resections of brain, spinal cord and cranial
nerves, CNS processes and balance disorders.

UNC Rehabilitation Team – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service

Restore function for patients and prevent/lessen disabilities following disease or profound injury as triaged from all of the above services, including admissions from outside facilities. Instruct patients in the safe and effective use of pullies, weights, inclined surfaces and other equipment prescribed for their treatment. Participate in wound care treatment and helped patients adapt to the use of wheelchairs, braces, canes and prosthetic/orthotic devices. Coordinate discharge planning, family conferences and follow up care.
