Indications For Testing
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG) provide data that helps your physician identify conditions such as carpal tunnel and a pinched nerve in the neck or back. For a more detailed list please click Here.
Clinical Examination
- History – Brief explanation of the symptoms and conditions that bring us together.
- Clinical tests and measures including reflexes and brief test of muscle strength with other special tests to help clarify symptoms.
Nerve Conduction Study (NCS)
- Low levels of electrical current are applied to the skin to stimulate the nerve.
We record the response from nerves and muscles. - See the video for additional clarification.
Electromyography (EMG)
- A small needle electrode is used to sample muscle activity.
- Multiple muscles will be sampled.
Report
- After analyzing the data a report is prepared and sent to your physician (usually in less than 24 hours).
- You will follow-up with your referring provider to go over the results.
- If you do not already have a follow-up appointment with your referring provider please contact them after the test is completed to go over your results and discuss further treatment options.
