EMG Solutions recently met with students at UT-Chattanooga Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy programs to provide education on clinical electromyography and nerve conduction studies. UTC has a top-rated program in a beautiful setting near the Great Smoky Mountains and surrounded by a plethora of outdoor activities.
Students reviewed neuromuscular physiology and anatomy, discussed differential diagnoses of peripheral nerve disorders that can present similar to common orthopaedic disorders and reviewed case studies. Students learned how to understand an EMG/NCS report and discussed how EMG/NCS can benefit their physical therapy practice, their ability to understand the patient’s diagnosis, and their ability to apply that knowledge to patient management and care.
The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) requires Physical Therapy schools to educate their students in clinical electrophysiology (Standards and Required Elements for Accreditation of Physical Therapist Education Programs, Standard 7, 7D19, citation 52). EMG Solutions offers a basic course with included laboratory experience that meets your CAPTE requirements. If your school is located in the Southeastern United States and is interested in partnering with EMG Solutions to educate your students in clinical EMG/NCS, contact us through our website at https://emgsolutions.com/contact-us/ or by calling 334-318-9023.
