EMG Solutions Clinical Electrophysiology Residency Program

EMG Solutions is excited about the development of our new residency program in clinical electrophysiology. It is one of only two Physical Therapy Clinical Electrophysiology residency programs offered in the United States and we are the first and only fully immersive residency program that pays you while you learn. Our intensive program includes one-on-one mentoring with a comprehensive didactic learning experience. A resident completing our program and successfully submitting their application will be ready to sit for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification exam within 13 months of beginning the program. Completion of this residency will give you the confidence you need to practice clinical electrophysiology and become ABPTS board certified.

Meet Our 2023 Residents

For students currently enrolled in an accredited DPT program who have interests in or want to learn more about clinical electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS), EMG Solutions is pleased to announce clinical rotation opportunities for 2nd and 3rd year students.

The student curriculum is designed to accommodate all students regardless of prior experience performing NCS and EMG in class by incorporating activities. This process prepares the students to reach entry level in the aspects of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and prognosis. (Similar to performing evaluations in a home health setting and the interventions then carried out by a PTA).

This curriculum was designed by John Lugo, PT, DPT, ABPTS Board Certified Specialist in Clinical Electrophysiology. John is the Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (CCCE) and Residency Program Coordinator for EMG Solutions and previously served as Director of Clinical Education (DCE) at the College of Staten Island for two years as part of his 15 years faculty appointment. John is familiar with the expectations of completing a DPT program with the qualifications to be an entry level generalist.

EMG Solutions is open to contract development and discussing the detailed curriculum with your program director and DCE to extend this opportunity to students, and the physical therapy profession for the growth of clinical electrophysiology specialty.

Welcome!

We are an EMG and NCS testing company. Electromyography, or EMG, is paired with nerve conduction studies, NCS, to evaluate the integrity of the peripheral nervous system and how it interacts with the muscles. We provide in-house services on a referral basis.
